I've always wondered when humans will run out of songs to write. There are only so many notes, chord progressions, riffs, stringed sentences and so forth.

I remember tripping on mescaline and a small amount of mushrooms, we were all sitting around and I had my electric guitar. I couldnt play a single tune without accidentally muffling some notes or fuckin up in some other way. Improv. came easy though......
After every little conversational riff I would follow it up with a musical version of it. That really tripped out my two friends and made them laugh every time. After doing this a few times without really even thinking about it(totally uncontrived), my friend asked me to play what it is like when he gets up from the recliner to get a glass of water. I tried, and it sounded like shit, and he said, "aw shit man you can do better than that", we all laughed. I tried to go back to the same place I was before his request and tried again, we were all amazed by the results...I even included the rushing water from the sink. I could not have had this musical connection with my two buddies had it not been for the psychedelics. Its just another example of what makes psychedelics so relavent to the world of music.

that's a really cool idea, stemmer... I think I might try that next time I'm tripping... making every day sounds with the guitar.
I just want to say : THANKYOU GUYS SO MUCH FOR THE MUSIC RECOMMENDATIONS YOU HAVE MADE TO ME!!! I can't thank you enough. I now have the most amazing collection of music I could ever wish for. Herbie Hancock, Grateful Dead, and I went to the shroomery shroomiepedia and got a list of all the music people recommended tripping on there... fuck me, man, my collection goes off it's tits. Thank you guys so much, I am loving this music. There is one Herbie Hancock song feat. Christina Aguilira ( I dont really like her or her music at all) but this song is amazing... guys
once again... thanks for all the help, I've got some new Dead too, and it's simply amazing....

Yikes!! That Gin & Juice is most certainly not a Phish song.
"This song has not been performed or recorded by the Vermont band Phish .
It was originally done by Dr. Dre, Snoop, and a NYC hip-hop artist named Phish, and has been covered by a bluegrass band from Texas called the Gourds. The latter circulates on MP3, and is sometimes incorrectly labeled as by Phish.
The hip-hop artist "Phish" is also featured on backup vocals for Dre's "What's the Difference" (track 7 on Dr. Dre 2001 - a title as remarkably unoriginal as using the name Phish nearly two decades after the band started to). "
And the other song is titled- Makisupa Policeman. But seriously, listen to Divided Sky if you think you like Phish and guitar. You won't be disappointed and it's entirely different than My Sweet One and Makisupa:)

Gin & Juice has indeed been played by phish believe it of not. I own the tape, fishman raps the whole song. Apparently some phish fans dont believe it or something because when I googled it I ran across the same quote, "This song has not been performed or recorded by the Vermont band Phish". Well thats just not true.
If you like jazz and like psychedelic music, buy some grant green. And george benson will knock your sox off. Grant green is very chilled sounding and full of grooves(one of the best guitarists ever and many consider him to be the creator of acid-jazz). George benson is kind of overwhelming at times, and alot of his best stuff Is supposedly out of print(which usually isnt the case). Benson has the most unique and funky style I have ever heard in a jazz guitarest.
In my top 5 albums list, george benson's album "body talk", and grant greens "his majesty king funk" are the top 2(thats just me, but everyone who loves psychedelic music will like or love these albums). Its kind of like herbie hancock's "head hunters" album, They are all MUST HAVES.

^^ Stemmer, there is however, a largely circulated recording of that other bluegrass band's recording of Gin and Juice and it is labeled Phish- and it most certainly is not

Dude Im a musician and one of the biggest fans you will ever speak to. Phish is not a bluegrass band for one, and they sure as shit have played gin and juice during a segway from one jam to another. Its not a rumor its true. The whole band is playing in the background. All of the members of phish have a distinct style, and thats the band that played gin and juice as a cover. Im pretty sure the band have switched intruments at that point in the show to some degree. (trey on drums)?. Who the hell sounds like fishman and why does the tape I have reveal the performance to be a part of a longer jam. Unless some people spliced the song with some other phish song seemlessly during a jam. I would be pretty impressed if that was the case, and you would be right. Who in the world sounds like fishman vocally?
Which bluegrass band might you be talking about? Im certain that what I have on tape is phish. I have seen bela fleck and the F-tones passed off as phish on tapes(which is pretty funny), but not in the middle of a jam.

He is talking about a popular online file usually attributed to Phish. He is not speaking about your tape of a live Phish show. Really look up Gin and Juice by Phish and you will get a Gourds song. That is the band that did that version of Gin and Juice. It is always attributed to some jam band but it was really the Gourds. You are talking about something different.
