Rust spots on cacti?
    #5516701 - 04/14/06 05:26 PM (18 years, 6 days ago)

i have some t. brevispinulosus cuttings that i just planted and hoping that they root well. they were potted 2 weeks ago. they are getting direct sunlight and watering them once a week. the smaller 6 inch cutting is doing well, however the 24 inch cutting has rusty looking spots appearing on the tissue near the spines, each spot is about the size of a BB and is soft and squishy. i've grown astrophytum species for quite awhile, but i've never encountered rust spots. can anyone enlighten me to what this is? i'm thinking its getting sunburned, but it could also be an infection (i sure hope not tho!).

thanks for any replys.

Many cactus get rust spots, most often this doesnt harm the cactus and they get rid of it themself, the best cure is sunlight and dry air. They come from moist
