No way, That's wild - I dont' think I knew that. Just finished watching 2001: Space Odyssey again for like the umpteenth time on Satellite T.V - always loved that movie....

ram dass talked about it a bit (he tried a taste of the stuff) in BE HERE NOW...
they called it the astronaut drug JB318 --- an anticholinergic related to ditran & scopolamine, it floors you and then floats you... although i'm sure the mercury, gemini & apollo crews also were required to do other tripchems as well... i wonder if edgar mitchell or a few of the other space flyboys that got into mind sciences & noetics & such have posted comments on their training regimen somewheres...

Cool. Wathcing the stars dance and morph, your body floating with your mind. But then again, I'd probably have a major meltdown if I saw the earth as a blue marble. One of the coolest things i've ever seen while tripping was a rose garden in full bloom. Right in my backyard.

I'm considering taking a small packet of powdered mushrooms on me when I fly overseas this summer. Granted, I'm a very seasoned flyer (30-40 round trips in my 20 years) and it should pose no problem if I take them after I get seated in the plane. It's going to be an 8 hour flight with absolutely nothing to do, a SMALL dose might be fun. I've never lost control and I'd just plan on listening to my CD player and checking out some amazing visuals from being at 40,000 feet though most of that will be just ocean water. hehe

Ah well, got to be a bit of a killjoy. The drugs the astronauts took were purely to combat motion sickness. Shuttle astronauts continue to take newer versions.
The earth wouldn't be much to see from a million miles away. Just a speck of light. From low-earth orbit, though, it must be stunning.

Based on pics I've seen, I think being on the surface of the moon would be close enough to get a lovely view of earth. And the moon's gravity would be fun, too. From earlier experience with shrooms (not with space flight,) I think looking at the earth would be so beautiful I'd cry my heart out.

One night while me and my friend were high. We decided to go up to this hill near my house. When we got to the top we started hoping all around on it because we thought we were on the moon for some reason. It was really cool, I hope some day there's some kind of anti-gravity room invented that people can play around in. That would kick ass.

I tripped on a plane once it was odd. My flight got cancled so I was being shuffled around the country trying to get home. Everything was a little more interesting. I also read a few hawkings essays during this time, kinda changed things in my life.
