panaeolus subbalteatus,...I think

Hello, I live in southwestern PA, had a couple days of rain and I was strolling through my yard and I saw these. I thought they might be pan subbs but I've never seen shrooms before so maybe you guys could help me out. These mushrooms were growing in my lawn, some ground moss, and on some mulch underneath some pine ? trees. The gills range from a beige color to chocolate brown. The stem ranges anywhere from about 1-5cm in length. It's a brown/beige and almost silvery in appearance. The stem is also solid, but with a stringy pith, and also pretty thin. The cap is about 1-4cm wide. I'll tell the spore print when it drops. Thanks for the help

Hmm I don't think theyre pan. subbs...though my id skills have decreased after taking a break from hunting. Though if I recall they have some characterstics that both are and arent pan. subbs, wait for a spore print and check if any blueing occurs, and I think the gills are too white and the stems seem to be very bulgy even though pan subbs have rather large stems for their species..I think...

those are most definatly unlike any subbs i've ever encountered. there is a certain degree of difference between subbs in different places, but i'd have to say those aren't subbs. nice find though

Does anyone know what kind of mushrooms these are, and if they're psychoactive or not since they aren't pan subbs.?
there's the sporeprint, it's a muddy brown to light brown color, I did 3 caps

Nope sorry m8 better luck next time. Just keep trying!
Sporeprint should be jet black just to let you know.
Pan. subbs. can be quit confusing to correctly id if you never seen their every characterstic. Some are tannish to almost grey at times with relativevly big stems for their species, I suggest studying the pan. species. Theyre common look alike is a small brown capped mushroom with a small stem, but I forgot the correct name for it...some foe??? Pan subbs. a lot of times look like UFO's IMO. They also have a visible ring around the cap when they lose moisture.

Those don't even appear to be in the panaeolus genus.. certainly not safe looking. Not active either.

It would probably help if the owner of this thread purchases a very good book about how to identify mushrooms more accurately, though don't go eating mushrooms you think are identified through the books expertise. Always get a professionals opinion and approval. I suggest buying *sigh* I'm not sure of the damned books title or Arthur. It's a recommended book around here though and has a grip of fungi and is very descriptive and detailed. The cover has a fugly mushroom and the Arthur has a old hairstyle that resembles the mushrooms he is holding, which are giant morels...Anyone know the book?

David Arora?s Mushrooms Demystified is the book you are referring to. I never gave it any consideration but yeah? his head is shaped a bit like a mushroom in that picture with the ENORMOUS morels. Great book!
oh and t_tristani2002... certainly not Panaeolus subbalteatus. Do not even consider eating them.
