Last year, i prepared a bed using a reliable source and come Autumn, nothing I put quite a thick casing layer of earth over the top to keep the moisture in, is it too late to add some more woodchips and have a flowering this year ??? And, how thick should my casing layer be ???

What your going about doing to grow mushrooms isn't what "I" would refer to as achievable or at least not possible for years. I don't think your correctly cultivating mushrooms for assured growth. Try the cultivating forum for your answers.

Yeah, head over to the cultivation forum.
If the mycelium is still living there, the mushrooms will grow every autumn as long as you add fresh substrate when they need it.

Yeah, like the others said, a mushroom cultivation forum should yield more on topic answers. This forums deals more with gardening and plants.

Where did you come up with the idea to put a casing layer over the top of wood chips...when growing Azures outdoors?
You should have covered the wood chips with leaves or black plastic.
I'd gently remove the casing layer and put some black plastic down...if the mycelium is still healthy.
It the mycelium isn't very healthy looking...I'd add more chips and maybe more spawn.
No idea if it will fruit...it would be guessing to give you an answer. You will have to wait and see if anything pops up.

Yeah, azure/cyan require no casing(5 inches is A bite deep 4 any casing), id spray your bed down with a water hose to remove the dirt, then cover with black plastic or a tarp. Take a look at the mycelium when you get to it, then gage weather you need more spawn. Id like some more info on your grow!! And what part of de world are you in(As azures usually fruit in the fall)?

they don't appear to be azures to me. I'm no expert of course, but I don't think so.

Cap color is a bit off. Cap shape is unusual. Gills are pure white while Azure spores are brown/purple There is NO blue-ing which is next to impossible.
Nope, doesn't look like these are Azures, sorry.

Correct, those aren't azures, and first frost doesn't kill them. We often pick azures and cyans long after first frost. Leave no more than 1/2" of soil over the woodchips. RR
