Horse Trails? (st pete FL)

I will start by saying I am a noob. However, I'm not one of those noobs that want all the answers handed to them, after using the search function for a while, i've decided to post.
I live in St. Petersburg, Florida. Pinellas county is very populated and cows are scarce. However, there is somewhere in the vicinity of 10 large horse stables near my house. The horses regularily get taken up and down the same 2-3 trails in the area. Although Florida has been a tinderbox lately, should it rain and the conditions be right, would these trails be worth searching for cubes? I really dont see why not, other than the fact that the traffic would be much more heavy/concentrated on a trail than it would on an open field, which might damage the mycellium. Any thoughts would help.

They'd be worth checking out, for sure. You should know that Cubes/Copes in horse dung is not very common. When Cubes do fruit from horse dung, they tend to be a tiny bit more potent than regular cow dung Cubes. You should find some horse sables and ask where they dump their crap. The huge piles of horse crap and shavings retain moisture better than regular horse dung. I speculate that the horse dung + wood shavings produces more potent cubes. Horse crap + wood shavings, generally, = more potent cubes. That's how it's worked for me in Georgia, at least

yes cannabisfun that sounds like an excellent spot for looking for Cubes.
horse stables are a safer place to hunt for Shrooms than cow fields are, but cow fields typically can have more mushrooms to pick.
i have never heard or seen of wild Copelandia mushrooms growing from horse dung.. opposed to cow dung which will produce the Copelandia.
Panaeolus subbalteatus can also be found growing from horse and cow dung here in florida.
the shroom season for st pete should begin in late May.

I Plan on taking a trip to Sarasota in mid may, should it rain. GG, I sent you a PM asking how you got permission to walk on those fields you talked about earlier this week. I since read several posts, including several of yours. I guess I have a new question: Would it be a good idea to offer money to search the fields? Say, 20 bucks? Its practically a free 20 bucks for the farmer. I'm just curious as to whether or not you or anyone else has tried this approach, or if it is somehow way more illegal to offer money to pick shrooms

Cow poo is the way to go. Here's why: Horses have stomach acid, cows don't. When cows ingest the sprores (as does every living animal) they dont't kill the spore, they germinate it and therefore begin the process. Spores have to land in the horse poo, germinate, and then grow. That is why in nature we tend to find shrooms in cow rather than horse.

Awesome information bro. I will keep that in mind. I'm still gonna check, seeing as the horses are real close to my house, but now i won't get my hopes up.

Hmm horse trails, defiantly probable, but cow paddies are even more probable; Eugene Oregon has a lot of horse ranches, oh it was a great place for picking pan. subbs. for sure just two years back, to bad I only spotted some in day light while on the one way road.
Sir MJ, I recall once said cow paddies are #1 source for cubensis and that horse paddies have a slim chance of housing cubensis.
If you decide on cow fields be wary of teh bull and curious cows who poke your sides and butt, which startled a friend of mines buddy who then dropped a lot of his alleged pan. subbs.

i used to live in south florida and i had numerous cube producing horse fields and it always seemed to be the little fields and my best spot was where the horse owner would dump the shit across the street on like public/city land, but i picked all my copes from cow dung.

Hi fellow countryman I don't know about things in St.Petersburg, Florida, although here in St.Petersburg, Russia I don't neglect any field with animals. It's unimportant does it have cows, horses or sheeps - check it out! Once I found a shitload of lib caps near to a pig poo heap.

hiya' fellow pinellas shroomer,
Pinellas county is very populated and cows are scarce. However, wherever you've got a mental hunch, it's worth a little bit of looking to see what you might find. In 2003, me and a buddy spent numerous hours and days trucking up around oldsmar 2 hunt. After several weeks of that with no finds, my buddy followed a hunch and we found copes in a small cow pasture less than a mile from my home. The sad part of the story is that they're building condos where all the woods were and who knows if they will happen again.
peace, kenjaman.

its because outdoors horse poo does not hold water well at all because its mostly fiber and it dries up quick. cow poo has a more dirt like texture to it so it holds water better. i had a problem with my outdoor bed of horse poo flushing poorly and had to mix composted cow manure in with it and it started doing much better.

it takes allot of walking around searching but sometimes you just run into a motherload out in the middle of some woods, or sometimes in the mcdonalds parking lot is a good spot.
