anybody in boston? just wondering what the hell there is to do in this city...besides getting drunk at Fanheul hall. there is not much else to this culture except binge drinking on the weekends. I have been living here for almost two years now and can't stand it. where shall i move to next?

What kind of music are you in to? The middle east and TT's in cambridge usually have good shows to go to
99% of the time its 18+ as well, so no dealing with little kids.

that's true. i havent been to the middle east in a while. I think i saw toots play there. My music selection changed recently cause I just pulled out of a pretty nasty depression. Before: Godspeed You Black Emperor, Sigur Ros, lots of Tool and Ween. Now: Belle & Sebastian, lots of techno (great to study to), bela flec...

Ebass, you live in one of the most highly cultured cities in the country. If all you do is go to fanueil hall, all you're going to find is drunk people. What do you expect, it's the number 1 college city in the country.
Pick up Stuff@night or the boston phoenix, they're free and they have tons of info on the nightlife in town. Check out lansdowne street, yea it's tons of eurotrash but if you like techno, they generally bring in some great DJs, especially axis and avalon (which on friday nights may combine to allow you to go to both clubs). Catch a Red Sox game, even if you don't like baseball, it's a great experience and a lot of fun. The Museum of Science does Laser Shows on the weekend nights, Floyd, NIN etc. Since the good weather is coming, they have the summer concert series on the esplanade (over by storrow drive), there are some great bars (that aren't tons of retards just getting hammered) if you look around, check out cambridge and somerville, they have some great little irish places that aren't all retarded and sceney (The Burren in Davis Sq. is one of my favorites, and is T accessible up til 1). Midnight movies at Fenway theater are always fun (don't know if they still run them but I think they should,) Rocky Horror Picture Show in Harvard Sq. if that's your kind of thing.
Thing is man, you gotta look, just going to fanueil hall isn't going to net you anything but drunk idiots paying 6 bucks for a budlight in a keg cup. There's tons to do in this city, just try to find it, you will.

Now that I have my bicycle tuned up I'll head over to the esplanade more often. I do miss biking on the charles and reading on the docks. It is really nice weather but the winter was pretty depressing for me this year. On top of that I quit drinking a few months ago and all of my so called friends were no more. Boston is a highly cultured city but it is still pretty easy to isolate yourself. Nothing like NYC or Barcelona when it comes to ease of meeting people. You just don't have the abundance of cafes and friendly people. Maybe its just me.

I think it's just you... I find boston to be very friendly and quite easy to meet people in. Bosotn and NYC are pretty similar in the type of people. You're in a city with an extremely high percentage of people your age...just go out and meet them!
