drying P. torch

I a P. torch that will be 3 yrs old this summer. I have limited space so I plan an topping it and planting the top to keep it growing but i do want to save the other pro. 2 feet for later. how is the best way to dry it for storage??

Cut the cactus into "stars" (width wise) and use a dehyrator. If one is not available, sitting them on a sunny shelf for a few days should to the trick. Another option is to look around at some of the extraction teks in wwhich you dont have to dry them at all. Just a few ideas...

I'd be careful as to not leave them sitting on a side too long, if you cut them. Mold and stuff can form on the bottom if they don't dry out fast enough. Some kind of setup like setting them on a screen type surface can decrease the chance of them rotting. Perhaps even turning them over if they are on something flat would be good too.
