Represent! LOL
nah, this is a good song though, i played around by adding a quick start beat, i threw in the notorius breakdown, and even drew back into the faster beat again with some twists thrown in. the beat and all its effects were done in FL5, and the singing and singing effects were done in cakewalk sonar 4. I hope you guys enjoy, ide really like some feedback. I've gone far since ive been back from fiji, i was having some mastering problems, but im starting to patch that up. any comments whatsoever are appreciated, but ide especialy like to know how the mastering sounds. I hear it takes two different minds for music, one for writing and performing, the other for mastering. I wanna be both

Just had a listen. I like it... and no seizures. I'm a fan of triphop, but I only know a few bands - Portishead, Massive attack, some that i cant think of right now. Any recommendations??

nice chillout trip-hop good recording on the voice samples too. nice smooth synths and sounds
use your ears when you work with equalizers/ compressors and reverb to make it sound the way you want it to sound. It already sounds pretty good

thanks alot for listening guys, and thanks for the advice stefan. ive just noticed that song will sound really great on FL, and i try not to put too much compression so when i export them and convert them to mp3, they will still sound good. usualy i cant get the mastering right...

Wiki says it better than I can:
Quote:
A process solution developed and rapidly adopted by the mastering industry starting in 2005 has been to change from dividing the 2-track mix into (typically) four or more frequency bands via a multi-band processor to having the artist/engineer submit the mix as four or more synced tracks (files) called Separations (or sometimes incorrectly, Stems). The process is analogous to high-end page layout software, splitting artwork into four "color separation" files (CMYK) for submission to an offset printing house. The mastering engineer can now adjust major elements without compromise and then sum them together to create the final master. The Separation Mastering process also eliminates "alternate mixes" (since the Separations are continuously variable), eliminates costly "recall" or remix sessions (since mixes don't have to be rejected by the mastering house, virtually any reasonably close mix can be salvaged and enhanced), and the final masters have been shown to be consistently more clear and detailed due to, among other causes, the re-rendering with a higher end, low-jitter mastering studio digital clock.

Mastering usually refers to changing media. Like going from 2inch analog tape to a CD, and then compressing/limiting the entire work so that each track is at the same relative level.
If you are truly mastering, and not just compressing, then this tip should help you, because often mastering is a compromise of certain frequencies, and by running a copy of the 2 track stereo and compressing the low on one and the high on another, then summing the two, you usually have no compromise of frequency dependant compression.
if you have a really loud 6k guitar or synth part, the compressor/limiter will recognize that first as it is the loudest frequency in the mix at that time, and then the compressor starts limiting volume based on that frequency. if it is a DnB, I would go for a really high compression ratio like 6:1. But if it is more melodic, you want to have an almost unnoticeable compression, so you want your settings to show the slightest overall gain reduction relative to the entire song.
