second casing layer?

This is my second attempt at casing. my last one was kinda crap. i had read someone say that you could cut a cake in half and case each half and get a good flush out of each.. this was bollox, all i got was a wimpy flush out of each half with a total of 40 grams of weekish shroomies. let me put it like this i ate all 40 grams the day after i picked them and had a baseline trip.
anyway so the day after the fist casing pinned i took three more cakes out and cased them one cake per case. Now these are really nice. I'm out of batts for the digi so i cant show them, but they are 100% covered on the top and are fluffy and health with no sign of overlay. I love to just sit and look at them . Now my question is should i do what i did with my first one. that being since it was taking awhile to pin i added an additional layer of casing, the next day they pined up. I guess they could have been really just ready to go by them selves but does anyone know of this adding of a second casing layer on top of the colonized one is a good idea or is it don't reg by anyone else?
my other question is i have 3 fully colonized cakes left. i was thinking about mixing them all together and making one bigger casing. Is this a good idea? Will it result in a bigger flush and more fruiting bodies?
any help would be appreciated

soo no thoughts on a second casing layer. maybe the question is to vague.
i want t o know the pros and cons of dropping another layer on top of the fully colonized top layer of casing
and if it is at all better too use 3 cakes in the next casing to improve yields.
anyone got any ideas here? pash

no not at all. what im trying to fig out is if a second layer of caseing, in effect patching the entire top layer of the caseing with a thin second layer is a good idea as it seemingly was the catalyst for pinning in my last caseing
and as for the second question, jsut got done putting my big caseing together so il sjut have to wait and see if this produses bigger results
