This one i call the fatimoid layer. (because it sounds cool :P)
Lol ok, so, once again (sorry, please don't beat me masters!!!:D) my much larger cake (2 pint lol) is starting to fruit, and at most, it's 65-70% done, so if i were to birth it, it could EASILY get contaminated. Well, a n00b got to thinking and i came up with "master solution" (k, no more jokes from me lol....well i didn't mean that to be offensive to anyone btw). What if all the places that weren't completely colonized, i added a layer of say.....clay or something so that nothing could contam it, but the insides would still be able to be colonized, and the cake could fruit. Do you guys think that would work?
Just to give you guys a visual of what it would look like, say that your head is a cake and you are wearing a partial helmet in some areas because your head is soft over there, whereas other places a rock hard lol. How do you experts think it'll work......because god DAMN i wish this cake wasn't fruiting.
Thanks guys, you ppl are the BEST. Just as a side note, i birthed my small 1/4 pint cake and it's doing GREAT. I'm gonna dunk it after this flush. I'm gonna eat a shroom for you guys

yeah i agree you're more likely to have success by carefully scraping away parts that aren't colonized
but i like your ingenuity :-) problem i see is it getting contamed while you're covering it, then no way to monitor whats going on underneath (unless you got some magical see-thru clay over there haha!)
you could also just let it fruit, in vitro style, and hope the rest gets colonized, harvest the invitro flush then birth as usual.
yet another idea is to take a big ziplock bag if you can find one that will fit a jar that size... wipe the outside of the jar down with bleach water or iso, put the jar inside and seal it up. with the bag sealead try and get the lid off and the cake out, crumble it up, and leave the whole mess in the bag jar and all... back into the incubator it goes, let the rest of the chunks get colonized, then it'll be safe to open it back up and take the jar out, and case the remaining chunks. just an idea here, thats not exactly a proven tek, but i don't see why it might not work (however messy and half-assed it seems )
