I'm going to re-post this. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/3982155#Post3982155
It's so critical.
I'm going to say that it's likely that your not allowing the grain to absorb the water it needs. If you follow the info in that link. Then drain until not a drop will drip when you shake the colander then your WBS WILL be at the right moisture content. Set up your jars with tyvek or polyfil along with the disk and PC 90 minutes. That's all there is too it.
How exactly can you tell your grain is too dry anyways? I have some stuff colonizing right now that's about 80% done I THOUGHT it might be too dry because it would rattle inside the jars. But it looks like it will finish and it wasn't slow at all.

this thread was very informative, im happy i got to read it.
however, im not into WBS yet - couple more days!!!
so - im getting the picture that you basically 24hour soak, then put it into a colander and let it drain for how long?
and then just knock it up in the jars - no need to simemr or anything right?

your WBS from the other day, how is it? I would stick to trying that out till you made a new batch but anyways did you get ANY growth on the first one yet? You'll gte it sooner or later, you might also want to try 1/3 WBS 2/3 rye
