You've got to be kidding me. Although I hate to make claims that are generally associated with pretentious assholes, the novel owned the hell out of that movie.
In fact, i'd host and link to books 1-5 of the series if I wasn't so sure that nobody would give a fuck.

It's not that I wouldn't give a fuck, it's just that I've got them all in print. I'm sure other people might enjoy it.
There's simply no way that the movie could replicate Douglas Adams' genious metaphors.

I thought it was pretty good----I would really like somebody to tell me any movie based on a novel was better than the original book. Trying to sqeeze a book that takes a few days to read into a film that takes a few hours to watch is really hard. It was a little hollywoodized but other than that, it was ID say a better than average adaptation.

Myself I would give eight fucks and a bag of rice krispies treats.
I've not had the pleasure of reading them, and for the life of me I haven't been able to figure out where I go in my college library to find a book and check it out (I only know how to look up reference books, which have thier own floor.)

The movie Fight Club was much better than the movie, imo.

I think you mean "better than the book."
On that note, I never knew there was a novel based on the movie. Or is that vice versa?

OH SHIT!
yeah, the MOVIE Fight Club was better than the BOOK.
The book was first; written by Chuck Palahniuk (or how ever it's spelled). There are maybe one or two parts of the book that should have been in the movie but weren't. But there was a whole lot of stuff in the book that was uneccessary. I felt the movie to be quite concise while moving at a good pace whereas the book would just meander away from the point for too long with no real content added, sometimes slowing to a crawl. But, that's just me.

I realy enjoyed HItchhikers Guide to The Galaxy.
Blissedout told me about the book and also the sequal to the first book. They are both on my list to read.
I just got ahold of Baraka, after reading about it in another thread I became interested.I have not watched it yet though.

i read through 1-4 and finished last week after watching the movie a few weeks back (i've read the first book a while ago though)
lets just say... all the good jokes have been quoted word for word almost in movies and TV all over the world... every time there was a good joke i'd think "oh so that's where it's refrenced from..."
i really liked the movie... it was all i expected it be!

No no... dont get me wrong... I had seen the movie first when it came out but just recently (2 days ago) I finished the novel in the series and then saw the movie AGAIN.
It was much better the second time around in my opinion (or maybe it was cause I was tripping )
I still gotta get around the ast 3 books... Cant wait to get my hands on them. By the way, are there any plans to continue the movie?
Oh yeah and Fight Club is by far one of my favourite movies of all time... Sad thing is, that I told this to eeryone I knew and before long it spread like wild fire and became a 'trend'. You should have seen all this highschool kids come up to me and go like 'Yeah! Fight Club rulez!!!' Ugh! It sickened me and kinda ruined the movie for me. The novel is better than the movie in my opinion 'cept for the ending.

Although the book was always going to surpass any film adaptation, the 2005 film was a totally doomed attempt. They totally lost the spirit of the book. They lost the quiet, very english sense of reserve and politeness of Dent and the narration that counterpointed the ludicrousness of much of the plot. They tried to just make it as "whacky" as possible.
It was a dismal, dismal, dismal failure. Utterly unengaging.

Aw man... I just wiki'd 'Douglas, Adam' and hes dead... DEAD!
Why do I always become fan of people who are either dead or dying??
So theres really no hope for a sequel to the movie... Sigh...
Oh and anybody who hasnt.. watch Hitchhikers while tripping, the ending would blow you away!
Question... Whats with the mice in the end?? When they get squatched there like this faces on them...

I enjoyed both the book and the movie, but I have to agree that the book owned the hell out of the movie.
