Probable Nightmare...please confirm
    #5513607 - 04/13/06 08:16 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

I made a LC and inoculated my WBS. It's been 12 days and heres what I'm growing...

It looks to me like grey mold in a few jars, and more like green mold in others. Only a few show a little white myc.
Please take a look at my jars and let me know what it looks like may have gone wrong (aside from innoculating it with a contamed LC :frown: :banghead: )-I'm sure that thats what happened- but aside from that, how does moisture content, WBS not expanded enough etc. look like?
Thanks in advance, this utterly sucks.

I'm also looking for some experienced eyes to examine the seed for proper prep which I feel falls into the cultivation category.

If your gonna save those jars toss that shit out ASAP. I've cleaned 2 dozen jars that were FULLY colonized with GREEN....... Why I dunno... After that I told myself next time I'd just throw the jars away. Now I still like to re-use my jars as much as possible so when I see just a speck of green they go to the trash.

Seeds look fine. Your LC was likely bad,as you know. Also make sure you PC at least 90mins after reaching 15psi.

Hey man, sometimes it happens. Its just an accident. I have made the same mistake. But hey, all you can do is try again...then when you got it, tell those contams to fuck off!  :spank:javascript:void(0)

seeds are a bit to moist.  If you look at the grains in the picture you can see they look a lil smooshed againsth the glass with a ring of water around the grain.

It's most likely a dirty LC, but, you could have added too much innoculant to the grains.  If you hydrated the grains to the point that you would for a syinge injection, that might be a bit too much and could lead to a contam.  Just toss the jars and try again man

PS

Something i like to do is make a jar run and let the jars sit for a few days.  Shake the jars once a day so there's no clumps, and after that the grains should shake around loosely.  When i get that consistency my colonization times for MS innoc usually run 8-9 days.  If they're inoculated while still a little moist it takes about 10-13 days.

imo opening those jars could potentialy be dangerous...no telling exactly what mold is growing in there and it could spread to his living environment..and compounding his problems with growing and possably risk to his health...i think this is why people just throw out thier contaminated jars...using pf tek i had 1 contaminated jar out of the hundreds i had grown....i guess ill see if i can maintain the same track record with wbs...i sure hope so.
