a very lonely accountant creates an incredibly immersive baseball simulation game using dice. His life consists of going to work, drinking at a dive bar, and sitting at his kitchen table, playing his game. He holds within his head an entire baseball league... while he's rolling those dice, he can see the pitches, hear the roar of the crowd... and each and every player is alive, has motivations, personalities, events in his life. Slowly, the game gets more and more important to him, and eventually takes over his mind. It has implications regarding our own universe, chance, all kinds of things.

I heard about it on a message board also, now you just have to recommend it to someone else :grin:

The list is now Universal Baseball Association, Cosmic Banditos, and I will add The Selfish Gene to books I don't own so I'll write their titles on the Shroomery and pray to swimming spaghetti monster that they appear in my toilet tomorrow night.
