rehydration
    #551221 - 02/14/02 12:11 PM (22 years, 7 months ago)

My friend is growing some mushrooms and he wanted to know if anyone had ever injected water with honey directly into a cake after a flush with a syringe? similar to drilling a hole and filling but without so much damage to the cake because you would just inject the water right in, plus with the honey you would be adding more food for the mycelium to eat up. He also wanted to know if you guys use "organic" honey or just normal honey which is pasturized. I have no clue about any of this stuff but i thought i would ask for him anyways... thanks for any help!

not altogether a bad idea. Since you wont be sterilizing the honey solution you should probably use the pre pastuerized honey.

No, no honey, that'll just invite contamination. your substrate has all the nutrients the shrooms can use. Set your cakes on a dish of moist verm. They'll rehydrate.
