Z strain fruiting
    #5512101 - 04/13/06 12:08 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

Hello everyone

as im trying to kill time at work until lunch, thought i would ask a question. I have Z-strain that are growing off a PF cake, my first flush was pretty good, at least 20-30 shrooms, but they were all way small. none grew off the top, on around the "sides" of the cake. they were about 2-3 in height. ive dunked the cakes before throwing in the FC. in know casing usually give off better fruits, but ive had larger fruits grow off cakes before. why do you guys think that is? since my cake already fruited, can i still dunk/crumble and case it?

also, i have a 1 1/2 pint jar with a PF cake in it. germination went well and colonizing was great until a few day ago. all of the sudden growth stopped. i dunno if the myc. is growing inwards or if the cake has become dehydrated. there is no contam or anything a otherwise successful cake. why is the myc stalling? cant wait to case that bad boy, the jar is huge!

you should get onto casing as soon as possible... its only a little bit of more work but the results are incomparable to cakes.

give the myc a little bit more days to colonize, it could all be due to lack of oxygen co2 and gas exchange in general.
