I made some pretty thick casings a few days ago. To my dismay the mycelium has grown a little unevenly during incubation. There are a few areas that has an inch of cover and then there are areas with less than a cm. I just used a piece of wood to lightly brush away cover in several areas to get an idea of depth. When I found some deep spots i used the flat edge of the wood (its a shim) to carefully even out the surface. There is no contact with the mycelium though. Also I would like to point out that I cased with 60/40 coco verm and when I placed them into the incubator I sprayed with a bit too much peroxide. (10% of 3% solution...so .3% of moisture consists of H2O2 molecules). Any thoughts!?

yeah, that's not scraping. that's patching. Scraping requires that you actually tear the myc up.
Usually people patch with extra casing material that they have on hand, but i don't really see anything wrong with spreading out the stuff that's already there as long as you are clean about it.

I agree, but next time get that substrate perfectly level and that casing as even as you can in thickness it really does make a difference and it will be like you really know what your doing as a cultivator. GL
