    #5511180 - 04/13/06 05:37 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

Hi all, i have read all I a man can read.. Ive followed everything to a T.. Still noting.. my casings mold, my cakes dont pin (cold shocked or not) and i have no clue whats wrong. My RH and temp are perfect, air exchange couldn't be better, yet nothing.. ive waited.. what do i do? I started out with 24 jars.. I have 5 left.. help.. could it be my water?

I turned a casing mix upside down do see what was or wasn't growing underneath (in two i found the myc turned gray which was mold I assume and were removed), the next day I see little brownish water droplets on the top of my casing.. what the heck is that? its not pins ill tell ya that much!!

I know this pic sucks but its the best i could get.. ENLARGE IT.. and see the center the brownish water drops?? wtf?

also.. here are some pics of my setup and mushrooms that were successful sorta.. only one casing was successful

advanced Martha

This is the light bulb im using in the pic above ($45.00 US each)

Australian's
(harvest overdue)

temp is usually a bit higher but its 6am here and chilly

Since I only have FIVE cakes left. Would you suggest I just microwave some verm, break up the cakes and place them in the verm for best moisture? What is my BEST shot to have some success here?

HELP ME OBONEKANOBE YOU ARE MY ONLY HOPE!!

Well one problem that I see of the bat is that your using a "flukers hygrometer with min/max" I bought one and I literally threw it away, it was so ridiculously off it was insane if you cant replace is at least calibrate it for temp and rh.

I have had the casings in for a week and a half.. the other 3 i trashed were two and a half weeks.. the 2 cakes i chucked 2 weeks.,. 2 other cakes have been a week and a half, the other 3 about 2 days..
'
Now i notice my ultrasonic humidifier causes a lot of moisture to collect in the casing mix, sometimes I see that the casing mix seems soaked all of it.. should it be some what dry? or should it be wet like that? I would say if i pinched some mix a few drops would come out. if thats bad can i put a "tin foil tent" above it allowing air flow and light but stopping moisture to settle?

thanks

a

bunch

How long are you running your ultrasonic for?

I found from personal experience that the ultrasonics are overkill for casings in a "Martha" style setup. And does your humidity always read 97%!?

Run your coolmist only and you'll see 90% on the button. And no, you shouldn't have standing water on your casings. You might be drowning them out.
