Hey, I have done mushrooms twice, and want to try higher level doses. I was just curious if there have been any studies about the long term effects of mushrooms on the brain? Or any sort of negative things that happen to the body? Any information or links about this would be tre appreciated

Mushrooms can be abused much like any substance. Your body will tell you the day after how harmful they are (or aren't).

The general consensus is that they can be deleterious to health with overuse, but there is little danger to infrequent (meaning perhaps bi-monthly) journeying.

You will find that people who take them weekly or more often will quickly burn out on them and the magic will almost completely disappear.

Thanks alot Swami, that is exactly how i planned on using them, like bi monthly, probably alot less than that since their impossible to find around now.

IMHO, a few times per year is enough if planned out. When I hear people on these boards say " I was chillin' with my friends at the 7-11 and we were bored so...", I feel sad that many here miss the whole point of tripping. I am not immune and have used psychedelics as a young man for "partying", but that doesn't even begin the real exploration.

Generally a person with the party mindset will burn out by the mid to late 20s at the latest, but those with a shamanic mindset will continue to explore inner space for most of their lives.

I generally try to reserve them for reconnecting to the planet, usually on a nature vacation such as the Grand Canyon or Yosemite. Or I use them when I have lost touch with my purpose and vision of life.
