casing thicknesses

1. How thick should your mycelium layer be in relation to your casing layer?
2. What are the minimum and maximum mycelium depths, and correlating casing depths?

(using 40% coir, 60% verm)

Anything I say is fictional. Duh.

I hear around 4:1 is a good ratio. For example, 2 inches of substrate and 0.5 inches of casing.
Regarding your question about mycelium depths, don't go over one inch. This would mean 4 inches of myc, which is alot. Hippiechick makes pretty thick casings and has great success. Check some of her previous posts.

I have had thick grain casings, but usually when I make grain casings I dont end up with really deep casings.

As fir bulk casings, even up to 6 inches is good.
