Where does Pluteus salicinus grow? like, what areas, as in, fields trees, etc. the site guide says that it grows in my area, illinois, it also says elsewhere on the site that it was discoverd in my area of illinois, which is the southern part. any help on where to find these mushrooms would be helpful.

I would check out the Shawnee national forest. There isn't much info about Pluteus species and as far as i am concerned the jury is still out with regards to a consistently active Pluteus species. I don't doubt active specimens have been encountered however the prospects of this mushroom being utilized by the recreational seeker of mind bending bla bla bla are slim in my opinion. It seems like shroomydan, xmush, and or mjshroomer once found bluing specimens however I don?t think anyone here can help you fill a basket to the brim. georgem

From what I read, I always got the impression that they are very rare. In all of my long forays in woodlands, where I encountered many pluteus specimens (mostly cervinus), I always kept an eye out for any that may bruise blue - but never came across one. If you are set on finding something active, you'd probably have a better chance with subbalteatus or even gymnopilus species (which seem to be more common than active pluteus).

There are 12,000 mushroom and other photos of 55 of the more than 200 species of mushrooms with psilocine int he Shroomery's Ultimate Shroom Guide.
You people need to read the sticky posted at the top of the shroom hunting page as it says to do and as every moderator here will tel you to.
It takes work to make things work.
