I saw that stuff yesterday. Not sure if it releases vapors, but I wouldn't want it, simply because it contains stuff the PLANTS like, meaning you might get some bacterial growth or something of the like growing it in (it'll be damp, and it contains nutes to some extent), so I wouldn't use it.

its fine.
rinse well in a strainer before using and dont rest cakes directly on it if you're paranoid and want some extra precautions.
it won't release "vapors," there's no harmful chemicals in it... the word fertilizer sounds scary but its basically ash, nitrogen (derived from ammonia and urea, the stuff in pee), and phosphate which is basically a type of rock. its not nutritive since there's no carbs there, contams won't grow simply from fertilizer alone so it poses no risk in that regard (yes plants like that stuff, but they don't eat foods, they make their own... fertilizer is more like a vitamin suppliment - mushies as well as molds and bacteria need to eat food, and they won't survive where there is none.) i got a few bags of the same exact stuff right here, we're talking like 0.1% of the mix is even fertilizer to begin with, most of which you can immediately wash off if you rinse it.
theres about a million other posts on this but i wont rag on you coz i asked the same question without searching a few weeks back myself. :-)
