Drying HPoo Just To ReHydrate It?
    #5508356 - 04/12/06 02:19 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

I've been reading Roadkill's Hpoo Tek and I'm curious about the drying part.

If the hpoo just gets rehydrated (and heated to pasteurize) anyway, why is it so important to dry out first? Can't I just take the hpoo however I find it, pasteurize and then drain properly?

It is to get the ammonia out of it. Ammonia is detramental to mycelium.

Longer drying times -w- direct exposure to the sun are a good thing.

You want the poo to be totally brown -w- no greenish tinge.

I used poo for my first grow that stunk the hole house up like compost. I have since leached that manure more then I care to think about. Point is it can still be a little on the green side with good results if you can deal with the smell.

Also, (besides the ammonia thing)
While it is still green & fresh.
It harbors billions of bacteria that you don't want in it.
Drying stiffs those puppies.

You should not rehydrate & pasteurize it until it has NO piss or shit smell.
Otherwise, that shit smell may come back.
Meaning, your grow attempt will end up in the trash can. :mad2:
