It's a class C misdemeanor whether you were in possession, or whether you were consuming. That carries a maximum penalty of 60 days, and a $500 fine.
Nobody will be able to tell you for sure how long you will get, maybe 1 day, maybe 60. All depends on what the judge decides, but you can figure on the maximum.

I dont know how they run things in indianapolis, but around here you would do no time at all. I wouldnt sweat it personally, but taking that advise could easily get you fucked by being unprepared. But good luck, I dont think you will need it.

It varies wildly from state to state.
Some states will take your license for a while, some won't. Some states will make you take classes, some won't. Some states will give you a big fine, some won't.
Get a lawyer.

You might want to look into the following:
You can run from a lot of minor infractions and you won't be drug back. For example, if you do something in one state, a warrant is issued for you, and you leave the state...you might be off scot-free. This is because a lot of minor warrants are "pick-up" only. This means that you can only be arrested if you are in that state where you violated the law. Even if the police seeking you know where you are they can't extradite you or come and get you. I'm not sure if Indiana has such a policy with its underage drinking stuff though.
For example, I know somebody who has a Florida warrant. It is "pick-up" only. As long as he doesn't enter Florida ever again he will not be nabbed. But, there are other things to consider. If you interview for a job and they do a background check and see a warrant out of Indiana....that won't look good.
My advice is to get a private lawyer. Do not settle for the public defender. Don't run, deal with it, and move on.

Some states will drop the charges if they know you are planning on moving. A friend of mine got out of a DUI by leaving the state. His lawyer was able to work something out with the judge/prosecutor. (I'm not talking about running, a big no-no in my book.)

It's a damn underage possession/consumption charge. They really don't come much lamer than this. Maybe jaywalking.
A friend of mine got one, skipped court and turned herself in after two years. She had to spend the night in jail, then the next day went to in front of a judge via video. Ended up with a $50 fine, court costs and time served.
Now, I know some people that went in for the same charge while they were still under 21, and they got a bigger fine and probation
If you have time to spare(no job) go in and plead not guilty. See what they'll offer you.
