Is there anyway to cut down on the humidty. I put a plastic zip lock bag over the jar with a slit on one end for the heater plug but still no good. I read somewhere aluminon foil could work I am going to try that. is there any thing else I can do. becasue my jars are getting drenched....

Thanks in advance

humidity in where ?
your incubator or your fruiting chamber?

I take it you mean incubator....cause you said your jars are getting drenched.

What are you using to increase the temp in your incubator?

Water on your jars isn't going to hurt them.....as long as the water doesn't get into the jars.

It was on my first post. I got a rubbermaid cooler with a fish tank heater in a jar full of water. temp stays around 83-88 which is what I want but humidty is 100 and some water is leaking into the jars. I dont need humidty that hight cuz its a incubator chamber not a fruiting chamber so I covered the glass jar with the fish tank heater with a ziploc bag with a slit on the side with the crease for the plug. Humidty did not go down even a little. Water is definetly creeping in the holes of my jars which is a very bad thing some look a little soggy inside. I got no contams so far but my jars are only about 50- 60 % colonized and a little orangy(to much water I think) so I definitley need to do something about the water any suggestions. thanks again for your quick reply.

Hummm.....i don't have this problem.

I use a Rubber maid container with a smaller container inside the large one.
The smaller one is where i keep my jars.
And i have a submersible aquarium heater in mine......with 4" to 5" of water in the Large Rubbermaid.

I don't get too much condinsation in my incubator.

Here is a picture of mine.

Only thing i can think of is.....cover the holes on your jars with Alum foil or tape them.
I don't crak open my jars for air exchange til a jar is 70% colonized.

Oh and lower your temp in your incubator to 84 or 86 degrees.

Sorry i couldn't help you more.

THATS THE SAME TEK THAT MY FRIEND USES!

I have never seen a pic of it posted before.

kewel.

PS: I hope that you keep H202 or (more effective) BLEACH in that water. I have seen some very stagnet (very dangerious) water conditions with that tek. (like... very cloudy stinky water- hehe) - However - I think thats a great tek as long as the water is clean.

I use the same tec also. But I found a sweet as heater that has a thermostat on it. Looks like you have the same one roadkill. You can "set it and forget it."

wouldn't it be better to have a black container, or one that light couldn't get through?

No the clear works fine......its in a dark room.

Might not be a good idea to use a clear container in a room that isn't dark.
