Gonna be making a documentary
    #5505617 - 04/11/06 09:12 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

With hopefuly a full write-up. The question I have for everyone is, on what?

I'm hoping to cover entheogens, and provide as much information as I could, tracking out into the brush to show the entheogen in many of its natural habitats and in many different growth stages. I wish to cover its historical background, its medicinal values and uses, cultivation, and maybe cover some brief information on the alkaloids involved. I'll give full credit (on the video) to those who help, but ide mainly like this to be done alone.

I was thinking maybe scotch broom, or manzanita (leafs and bark are smoked like tobacco, leafs can be chewed for stomach aches or mashed and rubbed on the temple for headaches.)

theres so much out there that still isnt widely known about or has been forgotten. like dandelions, everyone hates them and wants them out of their lawns, but dandelions are food, and a medicine. very nutritious too
most people dont know this. and most people are so on the edge (because of our system) and dont like to sit around and read pages on some flower. it would be much easier to convey this sacred knowledge through video.

does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking a flower power episode (lol sounds cheezy and hippyish but listen up), i would work on the dandelion, covering its uses culinary and medicinaly, as well as some background on its use. I would also be covering marijuana, and papaver somniferum.

I'm all for this, good luck. Unfortunately I don't really have anything to contribute and you said you wanted it mostly done by yourself anyhow. Keep us updated on progress if you go through with it.

Good luck on whatever you chose to work on.

Something I always thought would be cool to see, was a show,
showing the relationship between the Great Plains Indians,
and the mystical peyote.

well i just want to know what kind of info would be interesting to you guys. if i start releasing episodes with basic information of most entheogens and medicinal plants in cool little documentaries, im sure it would be a quick easy first step for the beginning entheogen or medicinal gardener, as well as anyone with the interest of natural foods and healing. what plants are most of you interested in learning about? the best i could do for peganum harmala or salvia or anything is to either find people who have them growing or check local nurseries. I am currently located in northern california and wont be able to travel very far, other than to the oregon coast soon (maybe in the fall actualy). So i will only be able to cover things in my neck of the woods, but im sure most grow alot of other places. I know nettles are edible and good for blood purifying, i could do some on that too. if theres any ideas at all to help me plan this better in your own opinions, that would be great. im not looking to sell these, it will all be free information for anyone seeking it.

i just figured out how to take video on my digi-cam. i can take 10 minutes of video on my 256mb card. so ill be clipping together scenes and narrating through. with ocassional closeup photos taken with the camera to show in detail what they look like, so many can get a better understanding. ill be using windows movie maker, and it will be my first time using it. so far ive recorded data, photos, and videos of manzanita and miners lettuce. along with some recipes for miners lettuce and alot of the other natural healing foods.

No offense meant here at all, at all! But do you have any idea how tough it is to make a documentary? Even a short one. I have a degree in video production and my final piece was 6 minutes long. Guess how long it took me to start and complete the entire project? Six weeks. And this was with top of the line equipment.

I hope you know what you're in for. But I wish you nothing but luck and would love to see what you come up with.
