Cleaning a glass piece

I want to clean out my glass piece because I'm about to get some salvia and want to use a fresh new pipe. A friend once told me that if you leave your bowl completely submerged in rubbing alcohol over-night it will be like brand new. anyone else tried this?

Works almost like a charm
You could also soak it in a bowl of rubbing alcohol and rub the inside with a q-tip or somethin. But yeah, rubbing alcohol will clean it up pretty damn good.

I'd say that's probably the way to go. Boiling a glass piece takes FOREVER and you run the risk of cracking the pipe.
Just make sure you let the pipe air out for awhile after its done soaking cause it will have a funky smell/taste if you don't.

Yep, let it soak for like 10 mins, then grabbed a q tip and went at it... I also let some get inside the pipe, closed up all the holes with thumbs / fingers and shook it around real good.
About 95% of the pipe looked brand new, smokes much better now too. Bad thing tho was looking at what came out, and what color is was, made me think long and hard about how often I wanted to smoke haha.

Adding some salt to your alcohol and shaking it all up with the pipe in there will help get into the crevices and knock stuff loose.

i use rubbing alcohol to clean my glass and it does work. depending how much build up there is, u might need to use some elbow grease. soaking overnight is good too. i have also soaked them overnight w/ the alcohol and some salt as well. a friend of mine has told me he used heated up vinegar, tho ive not tried that method yet.

It's not usually necessary to soak imo. I just start by running tepid water over the piece, then letting them heat up at the same rate, so to not crack the glass. Then once it's nice and hot, use rubbing alcohol 99%. The 99% will clean your glass in no time; much better than the 75%. Add in a healthy dose of salt, cover up, and shake away. You'll see all the resin come off the glass, a beautiful sight. Then empty, run some water through a couple times, and dry it off! Good to go!

That's the best way I've found to clean my pipes.

I make a 1:3 H2O2 91% IPA mix and soak my bowls (reserve the salt for bongs/difficult bubblers) put it in a ziplock baggie, and let it sit till I remember I left it there (I've left shit for a month before by mistake, I have a lot of glass) Take a pipe cleaner and have a go at it.
The one I left for a month was very, VERY dirty when I put it in, it was crystal clear with no effort when I pulled it back out.

theres no need for solvents, ipa is good but hot water does the same things. orange cleaner is great too, you can get gallons of it for a few bucks at the hardware store

another method is going and getting some of the bong/pipe (orange chronic, 420 cleaner etc etc) cleaner and pour it in shake for 30seconds perfectly clean, it amazes me every time, and it supports your local head shop!!

Smoker's Polident works great. Put about 4 tabs in a small bowl and let it soak, preferably overnight. Your piece will even be minty fresh!
