Hydrate used cakes prior to spawning?
    #5504793 - 04/11/06 06:43 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

I got some BRF cakes that have finished their second flush. I don't think the third flush will be worth my time. I got some H/poo so I was planning on to spawning it to poo but was wondering if I should dunk the cakes before I mix them with the poo. They've been dunked 24 hours before the first flush, then dunked 12 hours before the second flush. Does it even matter since the poo will be properly pasteurized and at field capacity. Thanks.

Dunk them. It won't hurt, only help. Casing cakes after the 2nd flush may be futile, most of its nutrients will be consumed already...I'll be surprised if it even colonizes fully.

Well don't most people say to spawn your spent cakes to poo? The poo has all the nutes and water myc could thrive on. The cakes are only being used as a catalyst, right?

but you are using spent cakes the myc is all tired and weak. its most likely fait is contamage. these spent cakes arn't useless though you can either stick thewm all together and make a casing to get a decent flush sometimes or spawn them outside to a bed.

Hmmm, I see where you guys are coming from. Well I just finished pasturizing the poo and letting it drain out the excess water from the pillow case. Is it even worth spawning these cases to the poo? I don't have any colonized jars at the moment and I don't want to waste the already pasturized poo. Can the poo be stored away till my jars finish? I have some oven bags and spore syringes, can I make a mycobag?

unfortunetly you can't just inject poo for whatever reason it does not take well. however i just found out of someones idea where they put hydrated and sterilized grain on top of the poo then inject so the grain catches teh nthey mix it into the poo.
maybe you could try one spent cake with a little bit of your poo that way if it doesn't work out the nyou havn't wasted much.
or just crumble all your spent cakes and case them. i htink it was bong that did this and was very pleasently suprised. if it wasn't him someone else did and posted some nice pics.
or look into an outdoor patch if thats an option for you.
