Trial & Error

Note: First timer. So I have inoculated 10 1/2 pint jars. They're sitting in a 78 degree environment. It's been 1 week and there are no signs of fuzz, so I removed the tape off 5 of them. Is this OK? Or should put the tape back on or remove the tape from all of them?

You should remove the tape from the jars they will be fine the layer of dry werm will be good enough to keep out contams... try t o store your jars in a litlle bit warmer area so the can colonize faster

WOW! It's only been 5 hours and a lot of the condensation that built up on the inside of the jars has left. So should I plan to put tape back over the holes to keep some moisture or will they be fine?

You don't need any tape on your jars. The holes in the lid allow for gas exchange, and the dry vermiculite layer is your contamination barrier. If it's a breathable tape, you could leave it. But I don't use any tape and have not had any problems. GL.

depends on your medium. If it's brf(which is HIGHLY suseptible to comtams) then no do not take off the tape, but instead replace the tape with breathable tape by an open oven door(w/clean hands, lysol the room etc). Otherwise, if it's just wbs or poo, then just replace the tape with breathable tape. But yes, you need FAE.

ugh, figment, you've been spreading a lot of misinformation around lately.
No one medium is more susceptible to contams then another. All mediums prepared properly will experience a very low contamination rate.
It's true that jars do not need gas exchange, but there is no reason for tape over your jars as the dry verm layer will act as the contam barrier.
