Will spores all over my terranium prevent flushes?
    #1807575 - 08/12/03 09:30 PM (20 years, 6 months ago)

I have a larger terranium with a couple of Equador cakes (no flushes), an equador casing, and a thai casing.

The thai came in as expected, nice and sweet flush. Before I picked the harvest, all the shrooms dropped spores...hella spores...which got all over. I cleaned up as much as I could but I'm sure there are still a lot around.

Since then nothing else has come in at all, the cakes have not flushed, neither has my equador casing. It has been two and a half weeks since they have all been in the terranium and nothing.

What I want to know is do the spores getting on other cakes have an effect on when the first flush on the cakes and Eq. casing come in? If so, how do I fix it?

Also, my Eq casing had all these flies all over it...where the hell did they come from? They weren't on the Thai casing, just the Eq. Help!!!!!!

yes, a mess they did make.....

I'm using the 50/50 + tek with peat moss, vermiculite, and oyster shells.

They were itty bitty and only on the eq casing, not the thai. In fact. The thai casing is ALREADY having another flush. I just looked and there are more pins coming, and I just harvested my first flush last Wednesday. A sweet 60 gram fresh flush, on an 8inch pan, my very first casing, I am the evil ignorant noooobieee, but I am oh so proud!

But I want my Equadors...when do I get my Equadors???

I took the Eq casing out and shooed the flies away, then, with sterile tools, scraped off most of the top casing layer and then put it back. That casing NEVER has had pins...I'm still waiting.

The Thai casing is nice and healthy, the pins are nice, firm and healthy, not being eaten at all.

Do you think maybe the Eq casing is molded somehow? I have an automatic setup but I still fan twice a day.
