someone i know says he has purple mushrooms!? should i be sceptical? if not, are they more potent?

Eh, I wouldn't trust em personally. If hes just stupid and calls the bluing purple for some reason, it should be cool.

Gymnopilus luteofolius are sometimes purple when young. They're active, but do not contain Psilocybin and you have to dose a lot higher on them. A search for Gymnopolis in the forums will fill you in on them. There's not much info about tripping on luteofolius, but some on Gymnopolis spectabilis.
In this pic you see the different stages of growth. The smaller ones are purple.

they look somewhat like that, but a much more intense purple than that though, i think im gonna wait a few days and check this post b4 i buy em

Smart move!
Do some research on Copelandia Cyanescens (Blue Meanies) also. They bruise very dark. But blue, not purple.....
And...it could be that they are cubes that are majorly covered in spores. Check out the "related threads" below...
