soda bottle fruiting

i have a single jar i want to fruit it is almost completly colinized but there is a speck of green on the last bit of substrate left uncolinized. Should i begin the next stage early? I want to fruit it in a soda bottle because i only have one cake, what would be the best way to do this? please help asap because this is the last jar i have and i really want some mush

It will most likely be taken over by the mushroom mycelium, since it is a minority, but it may be a highly aggresive mold that can ruin your whole cake.

To be honest, you should really throw that jar away...

I dont know though, if its really small you could try to cut it out and try fruiting. You'd still get some fruits but I dont know if you would want to eat them! :smile: You could use the spores however and try again! :frown:

dont throw it away just birth the cake now and cut off like 10% of the cake off the top

Cut the green out of the cake.

Then cut the cake in 2......look for contams inside the cake.

If you don't see any green inside the cake you might make it.
Then place the 2 halfs together in your 2liter bottle.
Spray with 10 to 1 Hyrdogen Peroxide and sterile water.

I just did this last week....as a test.
The 2 halfs started to grow back together and i got shrooms coming now.
But......i am not gonna eat them....lolz
You can use the prints off the shrooms to make new jars.
Better safe than sorry....but its up to you.

i know a guy that always eats them as long as the contam was eradicated early and there are no signs on the inside of the cake and no signs of contam return... hes never had any problems... but this is a serious Judgement call if you dont feel comfortable making it... DONT im serious about this
