You know, that cyan patch that got buried under rock and gravel might still be under there. If the owner really just buried it under gravel, it might not make it, and if you can, maybe try to dig down and get some mycelium chips and move those to a better woodchip pile.
Or maybe he removed the woodchips and replaced it with gravel. Then you just got find out where he put the chips. I've had that happen many times with Caltrans crews, where they remove landscaping meridians and replace it with cement.
I'll come along and ask them, 'so what did you do with the dirt'?. They think that's the strangest question anybody ever asked them.
WTF?..why would anybody want to know where we put the dirt and woodchips?...hehe

yueah they didn't remove the chips,Because the chips were mostly scattered and buried under dirt with patchy grass growing ,the grass would collect the moist dew drops and keep the patch going I'll have to wait and see

they like grass too, and if the gravel is just losely scattered, they'll probabably keep coming up. But they like a good woodchip pile better. Maybe just try to find one chip or two that's nice and white with mycellium, and put that between two wet cardboards, grow it out a bit, and maybe try to find a better woodchip dump area to transplant it.
It doesn't sound too bad right now tho, unless they piled on the gravel inches thick
