Feedback request - Heating my lab

I want to heat my lab using a thermostat of sorts and either a gutted heating blanket or I could drill a hole in the side and pipe an external heater in there with a probe on the inside kicking it on and off. I do not really want to use an external heater but am concerned about a fire hazard with the blanket being run inside. Any useful feedback appreciated, or other suggestions. Follow First Grow link to see how this kit performs.

First of all, hats off to you! You have obviously put some fine work into building that unit.
2nd. http://www.bigappleherp.com/Reptile_Supplies/Product/Electronic_BAH1000_Thermostat_924105.html
You can attach it to just about anything under it's rated amperage that generates heat. I lightbulb wrapped in A-foil is common. I also attach a small 4 dollar AC fan as well to the controller for circulation. The temps in my FC are + or - .3 degrees.
3rd. A suggestion. Perhaps you could mount one light on the top of the unit and one light under the shelf? I'm sure your side lighting will work just fine. Shrooms may grow kind of tilted towards it though.(random babblying, Ive never used that side light setup before so I dunno.)

Hey I already have you covered. My system has been totally taken apart insulated and a new eco and lighting system installed. The shelf has a divider on the bottom so it would work to use a light bulb but only in the back section on the top and bottom. It may lead to hot spots in the tubs near the back? Also do you have a pic of the fan setup you are using?

So you do not have any problems with the RH in your fridge using that fan? and the fan and the bulb are hooked to the same temperature probe?

They are both connected to the lizard terrarium heater that I linked you in the earlier post.
Humidity is an ultrasonic hummer inside on a digital timer. No problem there.
I've recently discovered that my FAE was inadequate. I'm solving that problem now though.

Well I have concernes about having equal heating using a light bulb and fan the top of the kit and bottom are not open. the electric blanket will work the most evenly, but is easily not the simplest setup. where do you think I could put the light bulb and fan that would evenly heat the unit.

there is only about 5 inches of space between the back of the kit and the plastic tubs but the center has 12 inches in the middle.

Well before we get into that, where is this unit going to be kept. Specifically, what temps will it be exposed to?

its in my house in the living room at the moment. it will be exposed to fluctuations in the house as the house does not have central air and heat. It gets hot during the day and cold at night so there can sometimes be a 10 degree variance in the house. The unit has insulation on the back panel and the bottom.

I can't take credit for that find. Once again that belongs to our illustrious Agar.
I bought one and am using it. Am totally impressed with its quality and accuracy.

JSshroom, if those temps are 65-75 I wouldn't heat it at all. Probably wouldn't bother at 60-70 either if I used large casings.
But if it's more like 55-65 or below I would, unles growing pans or something.
You do have quite a problem here. It won't be easy to do with a single heat source and keep it even. But I'd start with cutting out portions of the shelves and the middle devider. Get some free flowing air in there. Perhaps this would be a good use for some 12v computer fans. Once you can move all the air around in there, then you gotta find a place for the heat source. Perhaps a heat bomb would be appropriate in this situation. I'm thinking a suspended heat bomb hanging from the bottom of the middle shelf, in the center, in front of a hole that has a computer fan mounted on the other side of it.
Then I'd use 2 more fans, one per wall, to move air into each chamber
That's how I would handle it. I think it would be safer as well.
