wet spot colonization or contam?

there has been a wet spot in this jar since day 1, and i inoculated it anyway. It was actually one of the first to show signs of growth. Now that the mycelium has reached the wet substrate, the BRF part of it seems to be turning a deep tan/brown. Perhaps this is not wet BRF turning colors, but some sort of contams. Tho contams ive seen in my limited experience usually look greenish.
the pic here shows, from right to left, the healthy mycelium (very right), growing into a wet spot (middle) which has turned brown, on the left non-colonized wet-spot, top-left is correctly saturated substrate.

i have looked that the contam faq, and the wet spot mold bacillus, doesnt seem resemble this that closely.
ive also noticed tiny water droplets on the side of the jar...could that be a factor?

It looks pretty wet, but I don't see any contams. You might loosen the lid some and flip it over. It will have a tough time colonizing that wet area. GL.

You are correct. That looks like bacillus. Note the 'greasy' appearance just to the left of the white growth. That is the giveaway. I'm sure it also smells like rotten apples or your kitchen garbage. RR

I've got the same thing going in one of my jars (I'm on day 9). From day 1, the substrate smeared against the glass after pressure cooking. Mine looks just like that, but maybe not as dark. My mycellium is growing over the smeared wet-looking area, but it's taking longer. I'm just gonna wait and see what happens. I don't want to get rid of the jar just yet because I know that smear was there from the beginning. Mine also doesn't have any odor to it either, and I've already lost 3 jars to mold and they all stunk. I'd say hold on to it and see what happens.

Andrew: its not like i moved any of the verm layer, the lids have open holes on them , air hits the top of the verm layer all the time. thats what its for. ill just keep smelling it until theres rotten scent, and ill ditch it should it arise. its just 1 of 11.
also, will this bacillus spread? it really hasnt spread... ever.

yup, mines from the very beginning too. only the mycelium colonizing turns the wet spot brown. it does seem to be slow around the wet spot, and it seems to be growing all around it faster.

Check the smell again in a few days. Usually you can smell bacteria through the verm barrier, tyvek or synthetic filter disk. If it smells like fresh mushrooms, you know you're safe. Based on your picture above, I'd think you're screwed, but looks can be deceiving sometimes. RR
