Doesnt look like a cacti at all to me, search into Euphorbia (succulent). Poisonous as hell.

Correct me if I am wrong, but:
Cacti have aereoles, from which multiple spines protrude, whereas euphorbias have a single spine, that is rooted into the flesh of the plant.
If you pull a spine off of a cactus it will not hurt the plant, but if you pull the spine off of a euphorbia, it will damage & scar the plant.
.....I may be quite wrong, but I believe that cacti generally grow slower than euphorbias.
Also, may be wrong, but I think euphorbias are native to Africa.
Euphorbias are (generally? always?) poisonous.
And there is most likely a whole bunch of shit I missed.

No. I've seen one upclose and it's definately not a Trich. or any active species.

Forgot to make my little contribution: It's a euphorbia.
It doesn't have any areoles.
