did you knock the jars a little to give it a little space between the cake and the bottom of the jar now that they're flipped?

Jars??? What kind of jars...PF Tek or grain?

If using PF Tek and it's just the very bottom left un-colonized, just remove one of them now and put it into whatever it is you use as a grow environment. Just one though so you can see what I'm talking about.

Don't worry about contamination because once they're out of the jar they'll fill in almost overnight. Now I'm not condoning removing the substrate before it is fully colonized but in this instance you can get away with it.

I don't agree Nighted.. I think he would be better off giving it a few more days in the jar. Or at least cut off the uncolonized portions. Better not to risk contamination.
Tomatofarmer: Make sure the cake is not stuck to the top of the jar - try hitting it on a magazine so that the cake drops and creates a gap between the bottom (now the top) of the cake and the jar.

My friend agrees with _JJ_. Anytime she removed a cake from a jar premature it ended in a losing battle with the green mold. Flip the jars and give them a good slam onto a thick phone book (or something else kinda soft). The cake should give way and drop about a half a centimeter from the jar. The tops (they were the bottoms) should cover over in a few more days.

Hence the use of the word "slam" from my last post. -grin- Sometimes those suckers are in there really tight. My friend has had some that just will not drop no matter what she did. If they wont drop, no big deal. Give them time upside down and you should be fine, dropped or not.

You got the right idea. I don't know if it is from more gas exchange or more space to grow or what, but it always seems to help. The growth on the new tops (used to be the bottoms before the flip) tends to be a *lot* more fluffy than elswhere. Don't panic! :-)

As long as no contaminates get in there, you should be fine on the stuck one as well. Just keep an eye on them and toss anything that looks out of place. You really want the cakes to be 100% covered before you birth them or they will turn green 99 out of 100 times (in my friends experience anyway).

Good luck... a few more weeks and you should get your reward for patience.
