just cased

i just cased two deep dish. I first put a thin layer of my 60/40 on the bottom of the container, followed by 2.5 qt of my colonized substrate, topped with 1/2"-1" of 60/40. It is wrapped up in Al and is currently incubating. I know I have to wait 2 or 3 days...just wondering if anybody has got some advice on deep substrate casings?
When these are ready to fruit, I will take out of the chamber and put in fridge for 12 hr. After that, I will mist until near saturation and put into my Martha setup (it will be pretty much empty, except for those two) with a coolmist running constantly.
I am worried about contams...should I mist with H202 solution?

A deep substrate layer does NOT require a bottom layer of casing material. This is just something else to contaminate. Cubes are a sub-tropical species. They DON'T need a cold shock to fruit, as you would only be stalling the pinning process. If you prepare the casing properly (in semi-sterile conditions), the H2O2 is not necessary. It takes time for the myc to recover from being soaked in hydrogen peroxide. Everyone's concerned with contams, but just be as clean as possible, and you should be fine . If not, you'll learn a valuable lesson that will help you succeed in the future. GL.

I love valuable lessons but I also like to enjoy the fruits of my labor. Thanks for the info, Premedman1. Premed...what year do you plan on matriculating into med school?
