Matsutake / Kikurage

So matsis are highly prized, expensive things...anybody try them? I heard from a Japanese friend that they have a nice smell but not that great 'a taste. What kinda prices would be considered decent?
Also, anybody know what kikurage is in english? It comes to me highly recommended...

The Japanese Matsutake at the beginning of the season, which is the highest grade, can go up to $2000 per kilogram. In contrast, the average value for imported Matsutake is about $90 per kilogram.

but i don't believe a lot to wikipedia generally..
For a pure case i've found this table of conversion from Japanese mushrooms names to English/Latin mushrooms names.. (check also the part2 of the table)

I live in Japan and have tried Matsutake a few times. I do like the taste but I think a part of it is because I know its a delicacy. If it were significantly cheaper I'd buy it on a regular basis, but since Shiitake is like a dollar for a huge bag here I tend to stick with that.
Kikurage, when you look at the Kanji, literally means "Tree's ear". Is it some type of mushroom?

Lucky guy, living in Japan... 
I guess Kikurage would be Auricularia polytricha, the "wood ears." I've bought it in asian stores here as "dried wood fungus." Suffice it to say, I get weird looks from my housemates, haha.
So, yes, I bought 1/2 lb. each of dried Lobster, Chanterelles, and Matsutake. Since no vendors I know of are selling these, I'm going to try to distribute a few ounces on here. PM if interested, I'll be posting in the marketplace as well.
REALLY looking forward to my dinners next week, lol.

Yes, the white matsutake grows in the US and is often exported to Japan. Dried matsutake lack the flavor of the fresh ones since the flavor notes are highly volatile. Even overcooking destroys the unique flavor which is strong and spicy like fresh pine needles and cinnamon. I like the crisp texture of the raw mushrooms myself.
