Store them in glass, not plastic. Take a canning jar, put a bit of desiccant in the bottom. Next put a couple layers of paper towels down and finally the fruit you want to store. If you can displace the oxygen in the jar with CO2 even better. Seal the jar up and let it set at room temp for a while to give the desiccant a chance to do its thing. Finally toss it in the freezer for long term storage. This only works with dry fruit.

SO a regular canning jar will work with the desiccant like you see in a SHOE box? SO Jar then insert desiccant then a few paper towels then fruit and leave out for a bit then freezer or in a room? Thanks for the confirmation.

I actually like to have a separate container for drying the shrooms, you can use a home-depot bucket or a storage container and try to make a mesh shelf to put the mushrooms on (there are teks for this on this website in the information section). Then get a desiccant product that comes in a little plastic container with a reservoir to hold the liquid that gathers, and put that in the bucket with the shrooms. It needs to be air-tight btw. After a few days they will be totally dry (u should fan dry first though), and then you can transfer them to an air-tight container for storage. I like to take a piece of a paper-towel tube and make a little packet of desiccant by putting desiccant in a paper towel and folding it up and then taping it so it stays folded up. Then stuff your little paper-towel packet into the paper-towel tube segment and put that in your storage container with the dried shrooms to keep them dry. The desiccant packet needs to be replaced periodically, and definitely don't let the shrooms touch the desiccant.
Btw, u get desiccant at home depot or similar outlet. There are several brands, like dry-z-air etc.. I definitely recommend the desiccant that comes in a plastic tub with a reservoir for the water that builds up.
