Salvia: A space inhabited by a 'paint bottle' manufacturing process?
    #5494207 - 04/08/06 07:07 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

I just wanted to document some of the immediate effects that Salvia had on me, if that's even possible...

Some friends came around earlier tonight asking if they could borrow my bong.  I assumed that they were just smoking weed, but as it turns out, they had gotten hold of some 20X Salvia Divinorum.  Watching people smoke Salvia is always interesting, even if they're really not the type of people who should be using such a substance, so I decided to drop what I was doing and go over the road to their house and have a look.

It was rather disappointing.  They must have had some weak stuff or were doing something wrong...  I tried a bit of their Salvia myself and it did something, but not much.  It was kind of like I was highly aware of my centre point of gravity, and as I walked, I could feel my centre point move from side to side as I pressed my left foot down, then my right foot.  Interesting sense of wobbling, but nothing really mind-blowing.

Anyways, everyone just thought that Salvia was boring and they all gave up on it and decided to drink beer instead, so I decided to go back home.

Okay, so I have some Salvia 20X of my own that I've had for about a month.  I wasn't intending to smoke any tonight, but my housemate also returned and asked me if I was going to try any of my own stuff to see if it was any better and offered to sit for me, which was nice of him, especially given that he is not a person who partakes in any use of drugs.

Now, I don't like the idea of smoking Salvia in a messy smokey room of someone elses house with about 8 semi-drunk people, most of whom I don't know, hence why I didn't smoke my own Salvia at their house, so the opportunity to try Salvia in my own room with someone who I know and trust was perfect.  Needless to say, I jumped on the opportunity and decided to go ahead.  Filled the bowl with 20X Salvia and took a big hit...

The experience was familiar from my past experiences but I remembered more...  I lay down on the bed listening to U2.  I'm really not too sure about the details.  It was like I went to a place that was very familiar to me from my previous (very limited) salvia experiences, yet I was content there and felt no desire to remember it or describe it.  It was like everything turned into strange geometry, like I was in some strange place that was a representation of my room, but was extremely different.  I kept coming close to these planes of the geometry that represented different aspects of my thoughts.  In less than a minute I began to remember that I was lying in my room with my friend and felt safe that someone was there to watch me.  The details of what I was doing in objective reality were pretty much irrelevent to what was going on in my head.  I knew what I was doing, trying to change the music and describe the effects to my friend, but verbal description was not quite adequate and every time I hit a wall of indescript thought I could only laugh.

It was around then that it occurred to me that it was like all of my senses were stretched into a large hall that lay in front of me, amplified into larger senses, and the larger senses constructed this strange geometric space that was a weird representation of everything around me.  The amplifications of this space of senses gradually became smaller and smaller, such that there were a higher number of smaller representations and thus more detail of reality experience, as my mind began to return to normal.

It took much longer to return completely back to sober reality compared to my previous experiences.  I wish I could describe more of the experience, but words can't adequately describe it and my memory of the experience fades very quickly.  My attempts to describe the experience to my friend were met with mind blocks that quickly caused me to jump to the conclusion that I should lie down and not try to describe the experience.

It took me almost 30 minutes to return fully to baseline as we went downstairs and sat in the lounge, listening to music whilst watching the Windows Media Player visuals in a room lit by red and green bulbs.

In conclusion, it was a very interesting experience for me.  Definitely my most interesting Salvia experience yet (out of 5 times smoking salvia).  I'm beginning to feel that I may be much more confortable and productive using Salvia alone, but there's always an uncertainity with that given the experiences I've read of others.  It has certainly made me less anxious about using Salvia than I was prior to the experience and I'm looking forward to the next time.

Anyways, I wish I could describe more of the experience, but I need more words.

Well, Good night,
Martin

Oops.  Subject has been fixed.  I must've still been affected when I wrote the subject title.

i think that thing about the senses becoming larger than before is an astute observation as is the rest.

Cheers for reading!

I decided to give Salvia one more go last night before going to sleep. I was alone and in silent darkness this time, lying down in my bed.

There was a very strong sense of being in a strange geometric space again. I was watching objects that looked like squeazy ketchup bottles move around in what appeared to be a pre-defined, yet fairly complex path of twists and turns. Each bottle was of a different colour and all were evenly spaced from one another; they were yellow, red, green and blue. I was also 'picked up' into moving along the same path, as I had become one of the squeazy ketchup bottles, with the exception that I did not rotate as the other bottles did and was always looking upwards.

It immediately became apparent to me what I had read about the experiences of others whom say that they turned into a manufacturing process, because this was the very distinct feel of what was happening. But it wasn't like a real manufacturing process. It was just this strange movement of objects around this predefined path where other objects, like mechanical metal arms, would occasionally come into the scene do something to the objects as they were being formed. The objects did not appear to be held or suspended by anything, as they seemed to move all by themselves, and there did not appear to be any background location to the scene, it was just this huge space constructed entirely of this process.

I also noted a distinct presence. I was always skeptical about the presence that people describe on Salvia (Lady Salvia), and it wasn't what I was expecting at all. The sense was that of a strict grandmotherly-like being trying to teach me something as though I was a very young child. It was a feeling that my presence was welcomed by her, yet she was strict in the way that she wanted me to learn or behave in her presence. During the time of her strongest presence, she was saying words that repeated over and over, yet gradually changed. These were very dinstinctively 'simple' English words, but were constructed as though intended for a very young child, and that is how I felt; like this very young child who needed to be guided by her words. The only definite conclusion I can make and remember is that she wanted me to relax more and 'behave' (for lack of a better word) appropriately in her presence.

During the experience, my mind was blocking out entire sections of thought processes and my internal dictionary from time to time and descriptive thought would become difficult. For example, the best way I could describe the objects in the manufacturing process during the experience were as 'paint bottles', because my mind wouldn't give me any other words to describe them. Another example is like trying to think of something that you should be able to remember, such as an event from earlier in the day and then finding that your mind just hits the biggest blank you've ever felt. It's like hitting a wall of totally empty mental space where you know something should be, but isn't.

A few minutes later, I heard someone outside my room going downstairs. I resisted the idea of investigating this for a couple of minutes as I returned to normal, but it turned out that it was just one of my housemates; the one who had sat for me on my previous Salvia experience.

It certainly gave me plenty to think about. I definitely prefer Salvia alone in silent darkness to a bright room full of people, as have been my past experiences.
