Need an I.D. on a random find.

Habitat: Growing in grass in a "Fairy Ring" in a graveyard in the shade of a big Elm tree in central texas. Gills: Cream/White. Stem: 2 1/2 inches tall, 1/4 inch in diameter, Cream/Tan, Smooth, Solid. Cap: 2 inches in diameter, Tan, Smooth. Spore Print: White Bruising: No noticable bruising where cut. Smell: Similiar to that of a button mushroom.

I wasnt gonna eat it, I just wanted to know what it was. Thats what I thought it was too, just wanted some one else's opinion.

This is like the model ID request. Don't know what your mushroom is, though I agree with the marasimus ID. Just so nice seeing a correctly done ID request, so many freaking cell phone pics with no description popping up recently.

A good test for Maramius oreades is to bend the stem. M. oreades has a very flexible, tough stem and you can actually tie a knot in one (something you can't do with hardly any other mushrooms.

iv herd of people making mushroom ropes out of that mushroom so they can laso small game when lost in the wilderness

It sounds and looks like Maramius ordeas although the gills are a lot more crowded than the ones we get in Australia. Marasmius ordeas is regarded as an edible species. It does grow in grasses and in fairy rings quite often.
