cobweb on fruits
    #5489743 - 04/07/06 11:45 AM (17 years, 9 months ago)

for some reason l8ly its been harder and harder for me to detect cobweb in my jars, i know the difference but l8ly ive been geting myc that looks suspicious, any way i ended up spawning 7 qts to a poo based monotub, after a few weeks it looked like a mixture of good myc and cobweb, still very hard to tell i could be just paranoid, i ended up casing anyway, a couple weeks later same thing on the casing, som good myc poking through and sum suspicious lookin myc, its been fruiting now for a weeks or so and i got sum pins, theyre growing but i noticed on some theres fluffy myc looking stuff in random places on the pins, i dont think the tubs too overly wet, i know myc can run up to the top of the pin if its too wet, but these dont look like that, unfortunatly no pics, but my question is if these mature and if this is in fact cobweb, can it grow on a pin/mature shroom and can this be harmful if ingested?  :mushroom2:

That doesn't sound like cobweb to me. A very light misting with 10% peroxide will dissolve cobweb instantly. Also cobweb will look grey when compared to myc.

Cobweb is grey, not white, and is more like cotton candy 'floating' in the air just above the casing layer. What you're seeing doesn't sound like a contaminant but instead normal mycelium.
