Jar hydrating...
    #548902 - 02/12/02 12:04 PM (22 years, 11 months ago)

Can I re-hydrate my jars after they have started to colonize? I have my jars on a towel, and a sock, which is on top of a heating pad.. It really isn't hot, just barely warm on the bottom of my jars.. But I have noticed the bottom of the cake has lifted from the bottom of the jar.. I am assuming this is because the water is evaporating and leaving the whole cake smaller. I have a few quarter sized spots were the cakes are colonizing.. But they don't seem to be growing as much as they are just turning really white.. Not sure if this is normal.. Its only been 9 days since inoculation, and maybe I am impatient, but in the last 2 days things don't seem to be progressing.. So, this leads me to my question, can and how do I re-hydrate my jars without contaminating them.. Or is this neccassary.. Am I just over-anxious?
