I printed a bunch of a certain type of mushrooms on a plastic trash bag( at least 50 prints) I plan to collect them with water, and mix them into an area outside they they like to grow in. Does this work? I think it will, I am pretty excited about trying it. I just need the official opinion first from the pros. What are the odds of my success. Lay it all out for a noob PS- I know the basics about growing mushrooms, just need tips for success.

if there is a compost heap or something it will prolly work.

It could definitely work... mushrooms have grown for thousands and thousands of years before syringes and pf jars by spreading their spores around in areas where they're likely to grow...
I just wouldn't expect much. The reason nature produces so many mushrooms and so many millions of spores per mushroom is because the odds of any of them catching and continuing are so small. You might get nothing, you might get a little something, or you might get lucky and get a lot... its just a pretty inefficient way of going about things.

What species and where are you going to try and grow?
Edit: Just wanted to add that you dont need that many prints unless you intend to inoculate you whole backyard.

I read a great write up about how mushrooms thrive in the wild.
About how a mushroom will die and leave a spore print on a blade of grass and a whatever will come along and poo on it or what have you, ectect.
I don't believe however, that humans can duplicate this (in the sense of leaving prints around), simply due to lack of the right kind of animals lingering, and planting what and where at the right time, ectect.
I think putting it in a compost heap would be your best chance, if any at all.

You'd have WAYYYY better luck putting live mycelium somewhere, over a print, or even millions of prints.

Or the cow eats the printed grass, and shits out natures best field made cakes. Thanks for the tips. It's worth a shot, for sure. I will use a small area, around 4' X 4' and three feet deep( suggestions?) , I will mix in the print with the manure and grass or hay compost, and add about 25 black spore prints mixed in really well. If all goes well, nature should work, and the spores should take over the spot really fast.
