Question on my casing's appearance.
    #5486940 - 04/06/06 04:28 PM (17 years, 9 months ago)

Is this healthy? The area around the white looks a little dull, but not quite gray. The myc is really fuzzy too, but it doesn't look like full blown cobweb. Smells fine though, whaddya think?

Is that coir or peat? If it's peat it looks over colonized, but it definately looks like healthy mycelium.

That's coir.  I have an easier time with coir than peat

Those are just areas where the myc is still thin and you can see the casing through it. Notice how almost all the growth edges show it?

Coir casings colonize way different than peat casings and look quite different but yours looks fine except for the uneven colonization. I wonder why it is you have difficulty with peat casings as coir is more difficult to get it right as far as pin initiation is concerned.

For some reason pinning occurs right on schedule for me with coir, but I'm having a hell of a time with an even/nonsporadic pinset. I don't have a hygrometer though, so it's hard to tell how much humidity they're recieving.
