LC is growing soooo slow

What would you think if 6 days after inoculation into a baby bottle growth is questionable... It kinda looks a little cloudy but could just be the karo. At least it isn't contaminated but 6 days and hardly any growth, is this possible?

Have you done liquid cultures before? What temp. are you incubating it at? What kind of Karo recipe did you follow. How did you inoculate it? i.e. spores or living mycellium.

The Karo should be clear, that's why it is used for LC's. If you see a cloud, it's probably myc forming. If you have read other posts with people talking about LC's, then you know that it is a SLOW process. However, once you do have your LC ready, it makes up for time lost with the speed of colonization.

Sorry, I thought I did respond earlier:

it was about 3-4% Karo with multispore inoc. Done in a glovebox. Incubation temps are 82-84F. It is very odd because AFOF have an LC of 2 different strains but no growth in either of them still. The grain jars have been going slow too though but this is pretty sketch now that nothing is growing in the LCs

Be patient. LC's usually take AT LEAST a full week to start showing signs of growth. Don't get worried yet.

Mine showed slight signs of growth after just 2 days...honey method though.

If you have them in the baby bottles (as per agar's tek), it might just be that there is a lack of air exchange.

My average time to see myc growth is around 3 days.

Make sure you have a little air exchange, it seems to help. I use about an 1/8" hole on my pint jars covered with 2 layers of micropore tape.

Cloudy Karo makes me think you might have carmelized your LC. How long did you cook it for etc?
