I ate a couple mushrooms from the first flush of my rye casing. Everything seemed to go well, but I'm starting tofeel pretty queasy. It's been a few days since I ate them. There's definitely some mold on the casing, but a friend said it was fine as long as it wasn't growing on the mushroom. I did cut off the base of the stem to be sure. I have a few pictures but I'm not sure they'd be of much use, since the mushrooms were definitely healthy
Any comments are appreciated, I'm not sure if it's coincidence, or I should be worried.

Your friend was wrong. Mold anywhere on a cake means toxic chemicals possibly secreted by that mold could have easily been carried by your mycelium network into the mushroom.
That being said... most contams are harmless, and most that get you sick will only make you uncomfortable for a little while... there's always that possibility though its a nastier one that can wreak havok on your organs, poison you and kill you.
Now that I got you nice and worried... I still wouldn't sweat it though, most people get queasy when they eat shrooms, even clean ones. You're probably alright... just TOSS your contamed cake in the future, always play it safe (and it helps prevent it from spreading to near by cakes!)

That is absolute nonsense. Don't spread disinformation please. RR

RR is correct. Not all molds produce toxins. If this was the case there would be a whole lot of people getting sick from their blue cheese salad dressing. Blue cheese is cheese with Penicillium added. Penicillium is a mold.
