My friend was on my computer last night and he was all fucked up, so I had a game running, he did something he wont tell me about, he said he doesn't remember.... and it got me banned for a year.... = \ I have cable so my IP never changes. I know I could maybe call them, but for a game Nah.......
Just wondering if there's a way to mask your IP with a program so I can enter game, or maybe theres a way to change it. I've tried IPCONFIG and it doesn't work.
I also can use 56K and play, but it lags badly.

Maybe call your ISP and ask if they can change your ip? Or email the game administrators and tell them what happened...

Buy a $30 LinkSys broadband router.
The router's mac address will be different from your PC's' mac address which will cause the cable companys' DHCP server to create a new client record and assign a new IP. Also, you can manually change the router's WAN mac address any time you want a new IP. Each change will require a reboot of the cable modem.

I have cable internet through comcast, and I called them one day when I noticed that my IP had changed. I was curious as to what might have happened, and they told me that it's dynamic, so it will change from time to time.
They also told me of a way to force my cable IP to change: disconnect and turn off the cable modem for 12 hours or so. With Comcast, that forces it to generate a new IP address. I don't know if that will work for you.

I used to have problems with my modem/router (still not sure which one) and I constantly got disconnected at random times. Each time it reconnected it gave me a new IP. This surprised me because I know Comcast uses DHCP but my IP almost always stayed the same. Then one day it stopped disconnecting me and I've had the same IP ever since.
I'd suggest calling comcast and asking for a new one. Couldn't hurt.

I've tried that- they won't just give you one. But the guy I talked to told me that if I disconnect my cable modem it'll generate a new IP.

if it is in Steam, which is what it sounds like, they ban your account, not your ip, you would have to get a new steam account./

Yah and you better hope it isn't a punkbuster game because that's a hell of a lot worse than you think it is.

Yeah, unless you're paying for static IP then this should work, I'd give it a good 15 minutes though.
